Invitee Letter 2018 | 2018 Registration Form
Take an average Monday in the fall, toss in a tasty lunch, then pair experienced journalists with students eager to explore the newspaper business. That’s the recipe for The Joplin Globe’s annual Journalism Workshop, and your high school students are invited!
Schools in The Globe’s circulation area may register to send four students to spend the day shadowing and visiting with professionals at The Joplin Globe. Throughout the day, the young journalists attend sessions of their choice in news writing, feature writing, editorial writing, sports writing, photography, page design, ad creation, and the
Internet. The goal of the workshop is to provide students with an inside look at the operation of a daily newspaper as well as an appreciation of and respect for the First Amendment.
The free workshop begins at approximately 8:30 a.m. and concludes around 12:20 p.m. Registration is mailed to schools in September. Early registration is necessary as space is limited.
